ACQUANDAS GmbH is a German deep-tech company and contract manufacturer specializing in the production of high-quality micro components for the healthcare market (including smart micro implants and components for medical devices), as well as for other industrial sectors (including micro valves, actuators and sensors). Based on state-of-the-art microsystem technology processes, ACQUANDAS fabricates disruptive metallic micro components for applications in medical devices, systems and many other products. The combination of being able to manufacture miniaturized structures, such as micro-patterned Nitinol or Titanium thin films , with high structure resolution, high geometrical complexity, excellent biocompatibility and improved mechanical properties is unique.

The project goal for ACQUANDAS is to construct, manufacture, and research a new soft cuff electrode platform for coupling to motor nerve fibers. Additionally, a gas- and liquid-tight encapsulated, highly integrated rigid and flexible microelectronic carrier/packaging for microelectronic components is also being developed. Using new additive thin-film manufacturing processes and technologies, the goal is to create microcomponents that are as modular as possible for the construction of active, long-term medical implants. These active microcomponents form the implant interface between the human body and the neuroprosthesis. The electronic and electrode components of the active implant must be hermetically sealed, long-term stable, biocompatible, miniaturized, and reliable, enabling the electrical and mechanical functions of coupling to the nerves.
