imec Meeting
Consortium Meeting in Eindhoven, January 2025
The 4th periodic face-to-face partner meeting of NerveRepack was hosted by imec the Netherlands in January 22-23 2025. With 27 partners from 10 countries working together in this project, in-person meetings are key to progress.
The presentations delivered by work packages leaders illustrated the progress done in several directions: implantable components, external electronic blocks and mechatronic structures. Now in its 20th month, the project is transitioning from component development to full integration of an exoskeleton and artificial hand.
Key advancements presented:
✅ Plug electrodes (IMT) to acquire motor neural signals for prosthetic control.
✅ Multi-contact cuff electrodes (Acquandas) for selective sensory stimulation, enabling tactile feedback.
✅ Mechatronic prosthesis structure, integrating components from multiple partners (Osteopharm, UTH, Inegi, UPB).
During the meeting, discussions focused on wireless powering, data exchange, and movement control, with initial functionality tests conducted at imec. Clinical and regulatory requirements were also reviewed, ensuring biocompatibility for the neural interface. Collaborative efforts are driving us forward in restoring natural movement and sensation through advanced neuroprosthetic technology.
The meeting took place in High Tech Campus, Eindhoven. Our hosts offered us a lab tour at Salvia Bioelectronics, a visit to imec heritage exhibition and a social dinner at DAF museum.
