The University of Patras (UP) was founded in the city of Patras on 11 November 1964. UP is the third largest University in Greece in terms of students, faculty members, administrative personnel, number of departments and degrees awarded. The University of Patras includes 35 Departments covering a wide range of disciplines and has acquired international prominence in research areas such as Health, Environment, Biotechnology, Mechanics, Electronics, Informatics and Basic Science. It hosts 161 laboratories and 17 fully equipped clinics and a number of them have been recognized as centers of excellence on the basis of international assessment. Quality Assurance constitutes one of the strategic priorities for the University of Patras, and its main objective is to pursue continuous improvement of quality in Education and Research. ​The NerveRepack team at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences of the University of Patras (UP) is involved in assessment of the biocompatibility of the implantable device and corresponding component materials. In vitro cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility testing are two major goals, as well as the evaluation of the biological effects of the electromagnetic radiation of the wireless power system to be assessed in cell models by application of established assays.
