The University of Patras (UP) was founded in the city of Patras on 11 November 1964. UP is the third largest University in Greece in terms of students, faculty members, administrative personnel, number of departments and degrees awarded. The University of Patras includes 35 Departments covering a wide range of disciplines and has acquired international prominence in research areas such as Health, Environment, Biotechnology, Mechanics, Electronics, Informatics and Basic Science. It hosts 161 laboratories and 17 fully equipped clinics and a number of them have been recognized as centers of excellence on the basis of international assessment. Quality Assurance constitutes one of the strategic priorities for the University of Patras, and its main objective is to pursue continuous improvement of quality in Education and Research. UP promotes equality at all levels of operation and in all processes of academic life including educational, research and administrative procedures.
