The University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) has 19 500 Students, 1500 academic and administrative staff spread over eight campuses and consists of four faculties. It offers academic degrees at the Bachelor, Master and PhD level. At national level USN is coordinator or project partner in research and innovation programs in most of the Research Council of Norway’s thematic programs. At the European level, USN participates in projects funded through, for example, Horizon 2020, INTERREG and COST Actions.

Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences (TNM) offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines, including engineering, science, and maritime studies. In addition, we offer several one year - and continuing education programs. TNM offers four doctoral programmes: Applied Micro- and Nano-systems, Nautical operations, Process-, Energy- and Automation Engineering, and Ecology.

Department of Microsystems has five research groups: BioMEMS, Safe Distributed Systems, Digital Design and Autonomy, Materials and Micro Integration, and Micro and Nano Mechanical Systems. Core competence in development of micro sensors, MEMS design, MEMS fabrication, microelectronics, front-end sensor readout circuits, packaging of microsystems, microsystem integration and characterization.

The University of Norway (USN) is actively involved in the development of the implantable electronic device, including the electronics design, the control block, wireless communication, and power management.
